Re: New Rims and Tires

I bought some OEM Honda accessory wheels from a Honda dealer via ebay about 8 years ago. Look really nice similar to hx wheels.
Are you looking for 13, 14 or 15 inch?

FS: 1989 LX sedan $650

This car was bought as a donor to repair(body work) another car. Hood, R front fender, R wheel well apron, Core support on the right only and some additional parts are now missing. The car runs and actually passed smog on 23FEB2019. Could be driven a short distance for inspection purposes. DMV regis...

Re: End of Civic4g.com?

I own an 1988 lx sedan and this forum was instrumental during a restoration(DPFI to MPFI via ZC) that I performed about six years ago. The cars are becoming more rare here in Californa but still a few to be found on Craigslist. I've mostly been a user of this site and don't have much to contribute t...

Need coil spring compressor suggestion

Hi Civic4G people, I'm trying to replace dampers on my 1988 LX(original owners). The tool from Autozone won't work. http://www.autozone.com/loan-a-tools/strut-spring-compressor The hooks are too large to fit the small OEM springs. Spent yesterday researching and driving to Napa & Harbor Freight and ...

Re: '88 Civic LX Auto won't shift to 4th when cold

I have an 88 LX sedan that behaves exactly as KawBoy describes. When it's warm, 70mph is about 3200 rpm and when it cools more like 3750rpm. Perhaps I should pick up a themostat. Thanks for the info.

Re: 88 Sedan Front brake upgrade?

Thanks Sandman. I failed to mention in the first post that the car has OEM accessory wheels that are 14s. They look a bit like HX wheels. I'll do some research on Si calipers and rotors. The original calipers are single piston and don't appear to robust.

Re: Motor Mount Questions

I bought OEM from a local dealer and it was $375. The rear mount was a challenge. Had to loosen the cross member and drop it some to gain access to the rear bolt. Heard some have drilled a hole in the fire wall to get at that bolt. Good luck

88 Sedan Front brake upgrade?

I have an LX sedan. A few years back, with your help, I performed a D15B2 to ZC swap and replaced many other worn parts (all susp bushings, engine mounts, bearings, wheels, tires, windshield, etc.). I feel like the car could stop a little better and was considering replacing the calipers with Wilwoo...

Re: 88 lx sedan questions

I passed yesterday and now am the proud owner of a CA BAR legal Honda Civic. :) I found a D16A6 intake on cl for $40. One injector was bad and another leaking. Also, the fuel pressure regulator leaked awful. Honda charged me $80 for all new injector rubber (O-rings, cushion rings and intake seals). ...

Re: 88 lx sedan questions

I went to the ref at Miramar college today. It took more than an agonizing hour. I really didn't want to sell the car. The result was overall good. The car actually passed emissions. However, the ZC doesn't have an FICV like the D16A6. He said get the FICV on there and he will pass me. I can see a p...

Re: 88 lx sedan questions

Hi 4G folks,
I recently moved to San Diego and took the car to a Star test station and he told me he couldn't test because of the ZC. Guess I have to see a referee at Mira Mesa College and will call tomorrow to make an appointment. Anybody know the ref there?
Thanks,
Thorsten

Re: 88 lx sedan questions

Just wanted to post and update about the car. She's running like a champ. Passed a voluntary smog test up in Denver a while back. Drove it to Utah last week and averaged 37.9 mpg. That's over the Rocky Mountains. It's still a little underpowered on the long climbs but otherwise great. Maybe a B seri...
