speedo/gauge cluster

I now have a 1990 RTAWD civic. The speedometer on this new one makes a buzzing sound if it's really cold and even though I know I'm only driving 40mph, it will show 70-80 mph. I think it's the gears in the speedometer going bad. was going to get a new cluster, BUT it looks like there are a couple di...

Re: Front end damage

So I ended up getting....... A wagon/shuttle 1990 RTAWD! Completely stock, drives great, super in the snow and for Colorado where I'm at now. Gas mileage is significantly worse than my old 4g, but better than my 96 dodge 12v. 168K miles. Drives great. Doesn't leak oil like the Exxon Valdez (my old o...

Re: Front end damage

I'm about 90% sure that it's the hinges giving me fits. Tired of taking the hood on and off though (so is my assistant - wife). Drove the car tonight. Still amazed that there was no further damage to the suspension, car drives straight as ever. Driver headlight is a bit off, but other than that no ...

Re: Front end damage

Good ideas ya'll. The hood was from the JY, I used MY car's hinges (originally). Last night out of frustration I tried to straighten the other hinges that came with the hood from the junkyard instead of the ones on my carand it actually shut much easier, but instead of being able to just drop the ho...

Re: Front end damage

any reason a 1991 sedan hood would not fit on a 1988 sedan? I've seen a few places report that the sedan's hoods were interchangeable... The new hood is hitting by the rear hood gasket/seal and will not drop enough to let the hood latch... hmmm.

Re: Front end damage

Is it possible that the front end is pushed in? Or possibly just the part with the lights and the hood latch? I would suspect these first when a car has had a front end collision. The hood would show damage immediately, you'd know if it was the hood. I'd look in to the latch and it's connecting par...

Re: Front end damage

Update. After many hours and trips to the yard, I've almost got this thing pieced back together and could probably start driving it tonight. One thing though... The hood is not latching properly now. In fact, when I let the hood down there is about 3 inches (7.5cm) between the hood and the latch. I ...

Unfortunately, it sounds like you understood correctly. ;) Here's what I mean just in case... http://www.autogeekonline.net/gallery/data/1304/Engine_Center_Before3.JPG So just above both headlights there is an area of metal colored the same as the rest of the engine bay (in the picture should be a m...

Re: Front end damage

Used a tow strap as a makeshift "chassis robot". It did a decent job of straightening out that side of the car. I actually thin I'm only going to need to replace the hood, the headlight, the corner light, the fender, the radiator mounting bracket and the piece of metal that goes over the headlight t...

Re: Front end damage

I've never heard of a chassis robot, but only get images of toys when I google it. What does a chassis robot do and what is the cost to use one?

Re: Front end damage

Thanks for the help. Finally got the hood open and took off the driver's fender. Worse than I though. The engine bay got crinkled at the same level as the power steering reservoir. There is actually a seam at that same location. Is it possible to just cut from that crinkle forward out of another 4g ...

Front end damage

So long story short, while travelling at speed limit going down a hill in a rainstorm I had an idiot stop short after travelling about 4-5 feet into the intersection. I totally thought he was going to make it through, AND I was determined to make it through the same light. When he hit his brakes I h...
