Hades' Chariot (Update 1/4/2012)

Post by hades1186 »

Hey new here I jusst picked up a 91 DX Sedan and had a broken sparkplug and now works fine but has a bad place of rust i will have to get fixed, Wondering if i could get suggestions on engine swaps, i am going to do a auto to manual conversion so i will get a tranny with the engine. So wondering on what engine i should look for and if need be i will need help with explaining a OBD conversion.

Best engine to swap is the Saab B234R. Makes 225hp and 252 ft-lb torque, and it is an inline 4 so it will bolt right up and now that Saab is bankrupt parts should be getting hard to come by. ;)
Or you can read the faq's and do a little research.
And will an acura crx seat on the 90's era fit my 90 dx?

Thanks all and Looked around, looking maybe to do a d16z6, more worried about the wiring problems i might come across, thinking of buying a whole other car and taking everything from that.

If you can get a 92-95 Si/EX and a 88-91 Si tranny it will be golden for full z6/mpfi/obd1/tranny swap.

I think about three hours from me there is a z6 but it has the whole body and tranny what would be the difference between that tranny and the 4g one?

Ok so this is gonna be my Build Thread, Little bit of what I am doing and everything, I am 18 and never done anything like this at school me and another kid took an engine apart and put it back together, but wanted to do a civic because there are so many parts I picked up a 'junk' civic for $225, 'the engine didnt run well', I found the problem was a broken sparkplug bought one and the engine runs fine except for being left with hardly any oil. So I say I got a deal.

My plans at the moment are to first get and engine and transmission for a complete swap to Manual.
After that I wanna take care of my visual problems and after that some performance.

Rusty Rusty Wheels but they're all good.

Some work needs to be done but it has potential. The exterior color looks darker than the normal blue on these cars, maybe it's the pic.

The 92-95 tranny's clutch is hydraulic and the 4g is cable actuated, if you use the hydro one you need to adapt it while the 4g one accepts the z6 engine directly. Saves time, money and work. ;)

probably the pictures couldnt find camera at the time so i used my ipod. Okay then I will look for the 4g SI transmission? and work on buying a z6.

A lot of it its rusted and i stripped a few screws trying to take the bumpers off. We will see what happens tomorrow, sick today.

Best option, harder to come by, more expensive, best performance: Si or ZC tranny
Good option, easier to find, less expensive and less abused, lower performance: LX 5-speed tranny

that is a massive battery man , but deffintly liking the oem radio deck :D

since you dont have the access to weld it yourself i would recommend that you focus more on the driving related items

wiring for a z6 is not difficult and since your still on the dpfi system , the convertion to Mpfi is still needed

for rusted and stubborn bolts / nuts -- pb blaster
