Anyone have experience with warn rear bushings/shocks?

Post by 91hatchligon »

When i get my car up above 65-70 it starts to dart left and right some times to the point where i need to correct steering to compensate. It does not feel like its in the front end the steering is nice and tight and the wheel is stable at all speeds. so my question is. Is it warn rubber bushings or shock struts or??

Sort of sounds like what these cars tend to do with lowered suspension and wider tires on bad roads. Have you tried this on a number of roads just to make sure it's the car and not the road?

Currently has stock wheel/tires and yes i have tried different roads. I crawled under the car last night to inspect the bushings and i am depressed as to what i found... It looks like i will be purchasing a bushing set and doing all of them. This is the set I'm looking at using http://www.amazon.com/Energy-Suspension ... merReviews Not sure when ill will be able to afford this it all depends on if i can find someone to get in my rental soon.

I would need to get that same set. As far as I can tell they're mostly original. :D

I once had something similar on my 2008 Civic. After doing certain repair job on my suspension I noticed a weird noise and vibration, especially when driving on a bumpy road. Also, the steering became less responsive and kinda loose. It turned out that the shock mounts rusted, and no longer kept the road. So I had to get new shock mounts in (I shopped for these on the aftermarket https://www.carid.com/shock-mounts/, since Honda wanted to charge me too much), and had to uninstall shocks, replace the mounts and then installed shocks again. And I must say it really worked out! ::)
