a bike build of deddth!

Post by deddth »

last week i was on my way to my lunch spot when i found this:

Image

what a f*cking hideous thing, don't you think? painted crackwhore gray, ugly as f*ck, and a gay ass bend. anyone sane enough will just pass away after one look. not me. woe is me, lol. i need a bike and this one i got it for free. also i'm bored and i feel the need to build something from scratch, and this fugly thing here is the perfect candidate.

plans are to: tore it down, get pedals, get rims and tires, a seat, rear brake and chain. then strip and paint flat black. easy as pie, huh?

i bet when i finish that gay bend will not look so bad. it'll even become masculine. lol f*ck that bend.

so please follow me on this build. and if you have and want to share, feel free to toss any hook ups my way.
yay.

besides the crusty ugliness, frame and fork are sound and straight. so that's good. also found out it could be a k-mart huffy special lol. idgaf.

stay tuned. next would be strip and paint.
yay.

stuff i got today for this build:

Image

wheels with a freewheel hub, bike chain, tubes, rear brake kit, pedals and that thingamajig which it name escapes me but is for holding the steering bar. no name parts to keep costs down. this is a real cheap build.
yay.

today's work.

basically spent the day between this bike build and my hatch's. for the bike i started stripping the frame and fork of that horrible crackwhore puke goop gray... believe me or not, it was crusty. then i mocked it up and took a pic for your viewing pleasure:

Image

for the seat i have a surprise... you'll see.
yay.

today's update on this.

remember that ugly poopey crusty crackwhore gray? no more. took the wire wheel and went to town. it came out like this:

Image

frame is clean from paint. the fork needs a little bit more work, but i'm tired and running on breakfast's fumes. between this, the hatch and my son someone is going to kill me lol. i'm going to dab the frame with a little wd40 to prevent surface rust.

stay tuned.
yay.

update!

weather turned out real nice today, so i went and hit the frame, fork and handlebar with red primer.

frame:

fork:

handlebar:

now it is a matter of waiting 24hrs for this to properly cure, then a bit of wetsand, and primer it black. wetsand again, and start hitting it with the flat black.
yay.

c'mon guys. feel free to love or hate this.

update.

is taking shape, bitches!

while my son was taking a nap i wetsanded the red primer with 400 grit. degreased, washed, hung up to dry. 15 mins later i was spraying it with black primer:

so now they're left baking under the island sun. ;)

next stage: a bit of wetsand, then flat black paint.
yay.

Here you go. I bought it off a friend for the price of a coffee cup(about 2usd :D)
The handlebar is horrible, but it works and I've used it to get to get to work every now and then. Though the skinny tires suck horribly in the snow and ice!
