Bogs at WOT

Postby freydaddy » Wed Sep 01, 2010 4:01 am

went to the 1/8 track locally to be totally disappointed.
At WOT, it is dead. If i let out just a little it comes back to life.
Only thing i have changed recently is the TB (now OBD1 with the MAP sensor mounted)

I have checked the TPS, its within specs...4.68 v and .51 v.
I also messed around with the fuel pressure, 37-50 psi...no difference.
What should I check next?

What about the dizzy and ecu? Fuel pressure is good but, are the injectors fine for duty at high rpms?

if it were the dizzy or ECU, wouldnt there be a trouble code?

I have some brand new 550 cc injectors I could drop in.

I almost have to believe its something with the TB or vaccuum.

Try throttle body cleaner. or SEAFOAM, which is amazing.

Oh ok, I'd say your injectors are fine then. Any other fuel system mods like an adjustable FPR? How's the timing?

Timing should be dead o..just checked it last week.
A mechanic friend of mine said it might be a bad TB.

havent gotten any closer to finding out my problem.
i do know my MPG dropped from 36 to 30 mpg. :(
and im not running lean any more.

unless someone can advise me otherwise, im intending on getting a GSR TB (OBD1)
either 65mm or 68mm...i'll need it for the turbo anyway.

update on unresolved problem....
when I take off the K&N air filter along with the intake tube, it doesnt cut off at WOT.
with the filter and tube on, it cuts off at WOT
too much fuel? or not enough air?
suggestions?

mine had 7 months on it. If your burning oil it will ruin it, if you use seafoam it greatly increases the risk and if your running too rich you can ruin it. Mine went bad because the innovative mounts shook it to shit, the oil i was burning melted it and the seafoam finished it off.

That1Guy is right.

When it comes to machines, calender time or total time in use does not mean anything. It works or doesn't. I have had brand new parts from shelf did not work on my car. I know a lot of people had experienced this.

If you are seeing better operation of engine by removing those intake parts, the exhaust system may be okay. But it doesn't hurt to inspect the cat.

And if it's a magnaflow...heard a lot of stories about those collapsing after 1 or 2 years.
