Postby foreveryoung » Tue Apr 17, 2012 5:50 am

sooo, ive been looking high and ow for an ef sedan in my price range thats not junk and i found one and it is autoatic , burgundy with chrome trim smh ..
thinkin about buying it converting it to manual was wondering what "minor wiring" is there to do ??is there a juper harness i can buy ? do you have to have to grind any welds? and do u have to remove the dash?whats the most difficult part?

you shouldnt need a jumper harness unless your planning on running a different obd set-up.
the only wiring that comes to mind would be the clutch saftey switch but it is possible that can be over riden .the only real wiring related things to note , are the manual ecu (pm6 more than likely ) and the gauge cluster without the auto gear indicator in the middle

the dash will make it a lot easier to switch the auto and manual pedal assemblys .
there are like 2 or 3 small hole that need to be opened on the fire wall ( clutch line , and i beleive two mounting holes )

the most difficult part would prob be the time involved for the project . omitting you allready have all required parts for the sawp .

I just found a 4th gen hatch in a local junkyard with a 5-speed transmission still attached to its partially dismantled motor. I'm thinking about going and grabbing it in about a week if it's still there. The yard offers a guarantee and credit if the part doesn't work. I wish you the best in your endeavor to do a manual swap!

just take your time , plan it out start to finish . and remeber what goes where !!

ending up with more or not enough bolts / nuts could put you in potenial harm .

I too would like to know how it's going. I never got that manual transmission I mentioned. I wonder if it's still there....

I had a draw on my battery that was leaving it dead every morning. That's what's been occupying my attention for the past couple months. I think I fixed it just last night with the help of my newfound neighborhood mechanic. I installed one of those devices that makes the engine run richer, but I installed it wrong, so the IAC sensor circuit was draining the battery overnight.

Now I can focus on doing the manual conversion.

Now Remember U Need The Trans, Clutch, M/T Flywheel AANNDD Bolts To The Fly Wheel, Shift Linkage, M/T ECU, Three Pedal Setup For Clutch And Cable To The Trans.

(MAKE SURE U GET THE PASS AND REAR MOUNT AND BRACKETS AUTO ONE ARE DIFF)

Ur Gonna Have A two hole in the floor board where the shiftier goes u need to cover one and seal the other

On The Neutral Safety Switch U Will Need To By Pass The Park Indicatior ( The Park Light Will Be On At All Times When Driving)

Now When It Comes To The Wiring U Will Have A Green Wire And A Yellow wire that is ur reverse switch
On Ur Neutral Safety Switch Ull Need To Conect A Wire From The Green Wire To One Side And The The Yellow To The Other Side Th Should Turn On The Reverse Lights On The Putting In Revrse

Any Other Question Let Me Know BTW I Did This Conversion Already
