Mini me back firing

Postby 89efmtn » Thu Sep 01, 2016 6:15 pm

Hi I've put together a d15b2 with a d16y8 head and y8 3 layer head gasket and y8 timing belt. When I go to crank it. It just turns over and will backfire through the intake. I'm still dpfi also but I don't see that causing it. And I have checked my plug wires and they are correct. I do not have a timing light, yes I should but I don't. This is the 1st engine I've actually done fairly major work to so I'm learning little by little on my own lol so please any input positive and negative is appreciated haha

Defiantly sounds like the timing is off. Did you follow the timing belt install procedures for aligning crank and head position with TDS? Also check that the rotor on the distributor isn't 180 degrees off

Ok exactly how do you double check that it's 180 off? Lol

And I'm pretty sure my cam timing is on cause I had the crank set on the tdc notch and the head as well.
