weight question

Postby arolfsen » Tue Aug 07, 2007 1:01 pm

does anyone know the stock weights for a 1991 civic dx hatch and a 1995 civic dx coupe? these are the two bodies i'm looking at. the 95 is a complete shell (minus front and rear bumpers) for like $250. The 91 i'm going to have to find as i don't currently have a lead on one...

Thanks for that tip:

the 1995 2 door coupe is 2231
the 1991 2 door hatch is 2165

so in real world numbers how much of a difference is 66 pounds going to make? when i build it up i'm going to be shaving even more weight (rims, body kit, interior, and a carbon fiber hood) so what would you do? start off with the lighter car? that's what i'm thinking. plus the 1991 hatchback is a pretty sexy car i think....

I dont know what you mean by "real world numbers" but i know that they say for every 100lbs you shave off, its a tenth off your 1/4 mile time.

My owners manual says that my cx is 1850. Also if you need to know. the 88 to 91 civics had the best power to weight ratio in its class for the years of production and civics have been gradually gaining weight over the generations.
