Leaking transmission oil around axle
Just replaced the passenger side axle after the CV joints went out. Now about 3 days later it's leaking oil around where the axle goes into the transmission. What could be causing this?

its the axle seal right around the shaft input on the tranny. could have popped the spring that seals it up. cheap fix though

The new one went in easily, and didn't leak for about 3 days. Now it's getting spots of oil right underneath the transmission, and you can see where its running down from the axle seal.

Anyone have any advice for removing the old seal? It's like melted to the transmission and just keeps tearing into small pieces.

there a pain to get out just use pliers to rip it out. they have like a metal outside so maybe use a flat head screwdriver to pry

I just kept spraying carb cleaner on it and scraping it with a screwdriver until I got the majority of it. Then just used some sandpaper to get the rest of the residue off. It was too soft to use pliers, just kept ripping tiny pieces off of it.
Finally got the new one in, hasn't leaked yet.
