Hey everyone I recently bought a 1988 honda civic ef. I love the car so far, but I am a high school student and would like to gain more horsepower out of the little things. Any suggestions on this would be great, I have been thinking about switching spark plugs for higher performance ones like ngk's, and going a couple more degree's on timing. Any thoughts on really anything about these cars would be awesome!! Thanks in advanced!

Welcome :)
Anything you need to know is probably here, and don't feel bad about asking.
Timing will do something, spark plugs won't be that big of a decider. What you start with has some factor in it, but don't expect many ponies with just timing changes.

Sorry for the late reply, I didn't notice your post since I've not logged in even though I've been on the site.

Thank you for the reply, it's fine that you responded late I have responded about a month late. I added 2+ degrees on it and i didn't feel much other than 3rd gear feels faster. I have switched my focuses more on fixing all the small detail's.

Timing is very conservative in these as stock. However the problem with that is that the ECU is also adjusting the timing. And turning the dizzy without using a jump wire on the right plug the ecu will counter any adjustments. In fact you're best off tuning it from the ECU but that requires modifying the ECU and not worth it on a stock engine.

Fixing the broken little things first is a good way to go :)
