got the new wheel today, wasn't nearly as difficult as i had expected.
just in case anyone ever undertakes this like i did not knowing what to do, and tries to rip off the whole front of the steering wheel :-[

pop out the "H" on the wheel, do this, much easier.

mark the top center of the splined shaft so you dont install your wheel at a goofy angle, remove the 19mm nut

all the threads i looked at said they had to really yank on the wheel, but it just kinda came right off with little to no effort, so maybe its been off before? ???
assemble it all minding the reference point, and common sense should guide you home.

what i got at the end of the day was this
i couldn't be happier with the new wheel ;D

awkward to drive with the new wheel though, it seems like im driving a matchbox car, when i only lost maybe 1/2" - 3/4" each side.

yeah airbags are more work because you have to take out the airbag itself and move/ ground some wires for the airbag light to stay off an etc... but one other reason to love our cars!
